We’re Nuts for the Bears!

As you may know, NutsOnline is a huge supporter of the North American Bear Center in Ely, Minnesota. Through your amazingly generous contributions, we’ve shipped more than 2,700 pounds of nuts to this organization. The nuts in these care packages are used by the professionals at the center as treats for the resident bears, as well as for the radio-collared wild bears that the center monitors.

We received a very special letter via Facebook from a first-grade teacher at Andover Elementary School in Andover, Minnesota, that we’d love to share with all our nutty readers. Dana Coleman’s class has been learning about the black bears at the North American Bear Center throughout the year. At the end of the school year, the class donated $872 to the center. They earned the money by participating in a Read-a-Thon fundraiser throughout the year. From the donation, the children requested that $800 go toward nuts for the bears. The rest of the money will be used to purchase grapes for the animals.

We’d like to congratulate this wonderful bunch of first-graders on a successful year and a spectacular fundraiser! We’re so pleased that we have the privilege to join hands with you and send the bears some of their favorite nutty treats. We’re honored to be a part of this special project!
