Mardi Gras Munchies
Valentine’s Day may be over for this year, but there are plenty of holidays still to come this spring! Mardi Gras is on March 8, which is just a few short weeks away. Though you may live far from the action in New Orleans, you can still celebrate this fun and unique holiday at home with your family by enjoying some of our favorite Mardi Gras-themed and Southern treats.
It’s always nice to surprise your loved ones with a little bundle of sweets in their lunch boxes or on the dinner table. We have a variety of candies to choose from in bright Mardi Gras colors that are sure to fit the bill. Try some purple, yellow and green chocolate covered sunflower seeds or purple, gold and green Jordan almonds for your special celebration.
If you’re up for a bigger project, we highly recommend whipping up some homemade desserts. We love pralines, which are sugary candies that are packed with yummy pecan halves. However, the ultimate Mardi Gras treat is soft, sweet king cake. We really enjoy this recipe for king cake with pecan praline filling. It’s the perfect mix of traditional flavors and nutty filling, and we just can’t get enough.
Do you have any deliciously fun Mardi Gras traditions?
