Kale Chips Can’t Be Beat
We’re always on the lookout for fun, simple recipes that help us get in an extra serving of veggies and allow us to bust out some of the delicious NutsOnline herbs and spices that we’ve got in our pantry. In fact, we recently discovered kale chips, and can’t get enough of this crisp, delicious snack. If you’re a fan of our veggie chips, you’ll love this homemade snack.
Start with a bunch of kale, or any other leafy green that’s available at your supermarket or local farmers market. (Spinach works great!) Strip the leaves off of the tough center stem, tear them into chip-sized pieces and rinse them under cool water to remove the dirt and sand. Dry the kale completely.
Dump the dry kale in a bowl and add 1 to 2 tbsp. of oil to the greens. We love using olive oil in this recipe, but you can choose any oil that strikes your fancy. Toss the leaves around to evenly coat them in the oil, then spread them in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Now comes the fun part: seasoning your chips! We always start with a light sprinkling of salt. After that, we add the herbs and spices that sound the most delicious. Some of the best seasoning blends to use on kale chips include our ranch seasoning, our BBQ seasoning and our garlic and herb seasoning. Garlic pepper, curry powder and garam masala are also incredibly tasty.
Bake the kale chips at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 30 minutes, or until they’re crispy and a bit dry. Transfer them to a rack to cool, then munch away!
They really are that simple, but they’re also so delicious that no one will ever guess how easy they are to prepare. We give them our full nutty approval!
