A Spooky, Sweet Recipe That’s Sure to Please

Happy Halloween! OK, we know our favorite spooky holiday isn’t for a couple of days yet, but we couldn’t resist sharing our very favorite Halloween recipe with you a little early. It’s called candy corn bark, and it’s the best for Halloween parties and get-togethers!

The simple sweet, inspired by this fantastic recipe, starts with a crunchy layer of yummy treats. Grease a fairly small baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with waxed paper. Then, evenly space 12 to 16 sandwich cookies on the bottom of the sheet. You can use whatever flavor is your favorite. Sprinkle 1 cup of mini pretzels, ½ cup of roasted Virginia peanuts and ½ cup of jumbo golden raisins onto the cookie sheet, filling in the gaps between the cookies.

Melt about 2 lbs of chocolate wafers in a double boiler. We love using our dark chocolate wafers for this recipe because the rich, deep flavor really melds well with the other ingredients, but you can opt for white chocolate wafers or milk chocolate wafers if you prefer something milder.

Pour the melted chocolate slowly over the ingredients in the cookie sheet, making sure you have even distribution.  Immediately sprinkle several handfuls of candy corn over the top, then allow the bark to cool completely. Break the cooled bark into pieces with your hands and store it in an airtight container. Enjoy, and try to save some for your favorite ghouls and goblins! 🙂
