Our Favorite Christmas Appetizers
Less than two weeks until Christmas! How are you celebrating? Are you throwing any holiday parties? Will you have family and friends over for a festive Christmas dinner? We know this time of year can be stressful, so we’ve been trying to help as much as we can. We’ve given you ideas for holiday main courses and side dishes, desserts, snacks and even treats. Today, we have ideas for an often forgotten, but very important part of holiday dinners and parties: appetizers. Here are some of our favorite recipes:
1. Prosciutto-Wrapped Figs
If you want an appetizer that’s quick, easy, and insanely delicious, you need to put together these prosciutto-wrapped figs ASAP. Even though the preparation will only take you about 12 minutes to put together 4 servings, this appetizer has several layers of flavor and will have your guests raving. Plus, it only has five ingredients! Here’s what you’ll need: blue cheese, prosciutto, extra-virgin olive oil, salt and pepper, and Turkish figs (as a substitute for Black Mission Figs).
2. Toasted Pistachio-Cheese Arancini
Want to try something a little different this holiday season? Try these toasted pistachio-cheese arancini. Arancini are simply fried risotto balls, and these particular ones will be the size of tangerines. They’re cheesy in the middle and crunchy on the outside– an irresistible combination. Combine Arborio rice, white wine, chopped salted pistachios, panko crumbs, and baby peas to create this masterpiece.
3. Sweet and Savory Spiced Nuts
Here’s another easy appetizer for you to try: sweet and savory spiced nuts. This recipe only uses pecans, but you could mix in any other nuts you wanted. Just put out a couple bowls of these and watch them empty! For the spice mix and the glaze, here are some of the components you’ll need: cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar.
4. Almond Cheddar Appetizers
Here’s another one of our favorite Christmas appetizers. These almond cheddar appetizers combine several yummy flavors together, and you can even make them ahead of time and freeze them until you’re ready to pop them in the oven. Here’s what you’ll need: mayonnaise, worcestershire sauce, cheddar cheese, onion, chopped almonds, bacon, and French bread.
5. Cranberry-Pecan Chutney
Capture the tastes of the holiday season with this cranberry-pecan chutney. This recipe combines the flavors of cranberries, pecans, apricots, cinnamon, and apple cider. Sounds divine, right? Whip this up with ingredients like cinnamon sticks, dried apricots, frozen cranberries, toasted pecans, and more. Then serve it with a few different types of toasted bread.
