Give Quinoa a Whirl This Passover

The New York Times recently published an interesting article on the role quinoa can play in traditional Passover meals. A seed that can resemble couscous and other grain-based fare when cooked, quinoa is now incorporated into many Passover meals. We love it! Not only is quinoa tasty, it’s also gluten-free, packed with protein and a fantastic alternative to leavened-grain items such as bread.

The article points out that sometimes it can be difficult to determine whether a newer or out-of-the-box food is kosher for Passover. In fact, the article states that “There are two camps on quinoa: rabbis who say it is fine, and those who regard it as suspect. But both agree that its suitability for Passover depends on how the crop is harvested and shipped.”

We’re pleased to report that our organic quinoa is certified kosher. As a leader in the kosher nut and fruit business, all of our kosher items are certified with rabbinical supervision by the OK. Our quinoa, as well as our many other certified kosher goods, is safe to include in your Passover meal!
